Candida (Yeast), Clostridia and Parasites

Our "modern" diet, environment and excess use of antibiotics can easily contribute to a compromised digestive and immune systems. This can result in toxic damage and the overgrowth of pathogens. Candida (yeast) and bacteria (clostridia)overgrowth becomes a common and persistant problem. Symptoms associated with candida, bacteria and parasite infections include bloating, constipation or diarrhea, sugar craving, mental fog, high inflammation, sleeping problems, increased mucus production, damage to the mucous membrane system, picky eaters, failure to thrive and sinus congestion etc. Oxygen, by its oxidative nature, is a extremely effective anti-fungal.

When using hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) for the treatment of candida, parasites and/or bacteria most individuals will experience what is referred to as the Herxheimer reaction or commonly known as the “Healing crisis” or “Die-off”. This is the body’s reaction to the toxins that are released when large numbers of parasites, fungus, viruses, bacteria or other pathogens are being effectively killed off by the oxygen and the body does not eliminate the toxins quickly enough. It is VERY important to remember that sometimes you will feel worse before getting better. This is completely normal, common and natural. Your body is doing what it needs to do to rid itself of toxins and heal.

Associated symptoms can last from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the severity and can include;

  • Rash
  • Flu-like symptoms such as; headache, body aches, sore throat, sweating, chills, nausea.
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Change in stool – texture, frequency, smell
  • Headaches
  • Red cheeks
  • General malaise

Autism Parents have also reported:

  • General regression in “normal” behaviour
  • Increase in stimming
  • Melt-downs
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Loss in appetite
  • Wetting the bed
  • Agitation
  • Irritability
  • Swollen stomach
